Brita sued Recovery Engineering, a Minneapolis-based company manufacturing and marketing small-scale drinking water systems, for alleged patent infringement of Brita’s water filtration pitchers and filters. The Court granted summary judgment of non-infringement, dismissing all claims against Recovery Engineering. 41 F.Supp. 2d 818 (N.D. Ill. 1999). The dismissal was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. 2000 U.S. App. LEXIS 23758 (Fed. Cir. Sept. 21, 2000).
