Carlson Caspers enforced a patent that read on the Bluetooth personal area network standards against a smart phone manufacturer.  The invention at issue described sophisticated frequency hopping strategies that improve coexistence with other wireless devices such as WiFi users.  Phil Caspers argued the Markman hearing and successfully defended the scope of the patent claims. For this hearing, the team created and leveraged powerful, easy to understand animations to illustrate the technology issues and expose the weaknesses of the opposition’s position.  After winning the Markman hearing on this patent, the opposing side agreed to a license.
